HOW WE RIDE ON THE LAZY F RANCH
(unless you are riding your own horses)
WE DO NOT NORMALLY GALLOP OUR HORSES!!!

You will get killed and so will my horses. There are no "maintained" fields or trails on the Lazy F. This is uneven ground with soft sand, gravel on the roads, and rocks in some places.  There are holes of every size, everywhere, caused by armadillos, gophers, coyotes, and large wild hogs. Trees and thorn bushes, barbed wire, cactus, fallen logs, and other obstacles.

Loping and trotting, as needed - follow the lead of my cowboys.

WE DO NOT NORMALLY RIDE IN BAD WEATHER!!

Unless there is an "emergency" on the ranch - cows on the highway, an injured animal that needs tending, a fence that is down, cows trapped by rising water, etc.

DO NOT EXPECT TO RIDE IN POURING RAIN (we have lightning).
DO NOT EXPECT TO RIDE IN FREEZING COLD (about 10 days of the year).

WE DO NOT RIDE NOSE TO TAIL!!!

The Lazy F is NOT a "dude ranch." NOT!! I require a cowboy or cowgirl to accompany any ride,
but we only ride in line to talk and tell stories. "Nose to tail" is NOT how we ride and
is NOT how we ask you to ride. You are welcome to go off and explore as long as my wrangler
can hear you, if you need assistance or get lost.

RIDING WHEN IT IS "HOT AS TEXAS"

Usually, during Summer days (June - Mid-September), when it is very hot and uncomfortable, we start riding EARLY in the morning 0500-0600 hrs (5or 6 AM) and quit about 0900-1000 hours (9-10 AM). We start again about 1700 hours (5 PM) till dark, 2100 hours (9 PM). You can die in this heat. If you are from Europe or "Up North", you will not enjoy riding in high heat of midday AND you can get so sunburned it ruins the rest of your vacation.
