Young Riders at the Lazy F Guest Ranch

If you have children under 10 and you read this and realize you need to find a ranch that really caters to young children
remember my goal is for you to have fun on your vacation ... if not here, then somewhere in Texas. Bandera, Texas has
several "DUDE RANCHES" that cater to young children and have horses just for them... Please look at ...
DUDE RANCHES FOR KIDS

This ranch has been in my family for 150+ years. It has always been just a big, old cattle ranch. No tennis courts, no golf courses, no basketball, no kid games, no playground (well, there is a neat treehouse) and NO STINKING TV ... just a ranch.

My horses are WORKING HORSES. Not "Dude Ranch Deadheads" or "almost dead old nags". I have maybe 4 horses I would put kids, under 10 years old, on.

RIDERS UNDER 10 YEARS OLD: USUALLY I do not let them ride. I said, "Usually ...!" If no one else is riding;   if you book in all by yourselves;   if I have the time;   if your young riders have a clue ...;   and if your young riders can listen and learn... Then MAYBE they can ride because I DO have 4 horses that are calm enough for little kids (8 and older - NOT YOUNGER THAN 8). You ARE NOT riding "double." You ARE NOT leading them on a "lead rope."  And, if I think your kids aren't capable of riding with us in the pastures, then they will ride (or start learning to ride) in our arena. Or they won't ride at all.

RIDERS OVER 10 YEARS OLD: Sometimes I refuse to ride people over 10. Even some older than 20 or 40. Lack of capability. Unwillingness to obey the rules or listen to the orders of my cowboys or cowgirls. Flat out disrespect. It doesn't happen often but it has happened and I have the final say on who rides and who doesn't.

THINGS FOR YOUR YOUNG COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS TO DO WHEN NOT RIDING: What will they do after riding or if I don't let them ride??? We have no "Childrens' Programs" as such. I have a swimming pool; a fishing lake; a neat treehouse; and a lot of country to explore on foot. We can arrange a campfire cookout or go in the truck and feed the cows by hand. This might cost a bit extra. The bottom line is... the parents find things for their youngsters to do. I will be glad to assist. Usually your kids "fall in" with my kids and find fun things to do.

THERE IS NO TV. I disconnected that when my daughter was 5 years old. She is 13 now and her friends and other young people at the Lazy F have a beautiful ranch to enjoy and know that outside is where the fun is... HOWEVER, I do have a VCR/DVD player and a lot of movies to watch in the evening. There is a pool table in the back room.
